Sparkplug Wire
1979 ATC70 no spark replaced new stator plate, points, coil, coil wire, spark plug. The time is right l ???????
Someone gave the bike. All electrical is new and still no spark. any help would be great.
The first thing that comes to mind are the points were correct. can be difficult in Act 70, because the window to look through the steering wheel is small. should only begin to open when the "F" mark is aligned. which must be open to 012 to 014, when the "T" mark aligned. another thing to look at is the cable that connects the dots. this cable has to be on the right side insulator. that is, between the small screw and insulation, not between the insulator and the metal part of the points. another thing i have seen is that the coil, when substituted, was made with the wrong person. should be a 6 volt coil. the new coils are 12 volts. You can disconnect the switch on / off for disposal as the problem. that will run with it disengaged. One last thing is to replace the elbow at the end of the spark plug wire? are under $ 5.00
