Name WWII AAF tractor ground service?
My father, now deceased, the work of the flight line at Edwards Air Force Base, during the Second World War. There was talk of a towing service in him a backup generator, welder and air compressor. I think it might be used not only for drawing ground equipment, but by plane. Does anyone know of tractor of this kind? Photos of the tractor? Or any other information you send me in the right direction? Well I'm corrcted, was stationed at Muroc Army Air Field ground personnel working in the B-29 bombers. I will say this, however, called Edwards to separate it from the city Muroc.
Edwards was the name of one of the test pilots for the B-49 Flying Wing and that it was not until a few years later World War II. Before then called Muroc Lake AAF. The tractor is often called an "aircraft-towing tractor" or "tug towing aircraft. I'm sure someone, somewhere, has a history of these machines. Dad was a test pilot in the 1950s.
