How can I get my fuel gauge working on my mustang 77?

I have a mustang 1977 and the fuel gauge isn't working on it, or is of amplifiers, which could be the problem? was thinking maybe the display hole has replaced only because his old self and know some cables dryrotted lights and rupture. but I also know that there's some rust in the gas tank. may have ruined the sensor in the tank for this? any idea what that could have broken? and forms or fixing it?

I would say the old wiring thats just because something can be fixed when the fact the new drive is best, it is possible your tank could have done the trick, but either way you replace an expensive item, I start with something that would make the car look better
